Brief About Indian Political Leader Rajnath Singh


Indian Political Leader Rajnath Singh was born on July 10th, 1951. His parents were Shri Rambadan Singh and Srimati Gujarati Devi. They resided in Uttar Pradesh at the time. He attended school in the village where he grew up and as a student, he was brilliant. He was a hard worker throughout his life as a student and that attitude carried on to his adult life. After completing his MSc in Physics, he became a lecturer of Physics at K. B. Post Graduate College Mirzapur, UP. During the period 1969-1971, he was the organizational secretary of ABVP Gorakhpur Division. In 1972, he became the general secretary of the RSS in Mirzapur City. 1974 marked the year that he entered into politics and soon after, he became the Secretary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Mirzaur. Shortly after in 1975, he became the District President of Jana Sangh and the District Coordinator of the JP Movement. In 1977 he was elected as an MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) in UP Assembly. He became a State Secretary of UP BJP in 1983 and in 1984 he became a State President of BJP’s Youth Wing. After acquiring this title, he soon became the General Secretary of the BJP’s Youth Movement and by 1988 he was the National President of the BJP’s Youth Wing. In 1991 he became Education Minister and during his tenure in this position, he introduced the Anti-Copying Act and Vedic Mathematics in the syllabus, in addition to the correction of various portions of history textbooks.

His life in politics progressed further in 1994 when he became a member of the Rajya Sabha and also the Chief Whip of the BJP in Rajya Sabha. After becoming the State President of UP BJP, he played a key role in saving the BJP led Government twice during a political crisis. In 2003 he became Union Minister of Agriculture and soon after, he became Minister for Food Processing. He has shown that he has an extraordinary organizational ability and due to this fact, he was appointed the National General Secretary of BJP. With this title, he was in charge of two states and he ensured victory in both states. During the period 2005-2009, he was the BJP’s National President. In May 2009 he was elected MP from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. 2014 marked the year he was elected MP from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. It was this year that he took oath as the Union Minister of India and worked as the Union Minister of Home Affairs. In the 2019 General Elections, Shri Rajnath Singh was re-elected as Member of Parliament from Lucknow. He is currently working as the Raksha Mantri in the Government of India.
