Scheduled to be held in two phases, Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections are coming closer by the day. The first phase of elections are scheduled to be held for 18 seats on 12th of November and the second phase is for 72 seats to be held on 20th November. The EC has recently announced the dates for elections along with the date for nominations as 16th October to 23rd October and date of counting as 11th December.
The state is currently being led by BJP and its major rival in the state is Indian National Congress. Chhattisgarh has a total of 90 Assembly seats out of which 46 seats are required to attain a majority and establish a new government. The opinion polls conducted in the state delivered a mixed result with some agencies predicting the winner as Congress and some as BJP. There is even a possibility of the BSP and CPI becoming the deciding elements in the upcoming Chhattisgarh elections 2018.
The left parties in the state BSP and CPI had made an alliance which had brought some power to both the parties. If the results of the polls turned out to be an actuality, the alliance of these parties might even become a deciding factor in Chhattisgarh.
