TDP Not to Contest Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in Telangana

The campaigns for the Indian General Elections 2019 are underway as the elections date for top elective positions which is scheduled to take place on 11th April, 2019 approaches. The Assembly elections have just been concluded, and now the heat of the campaigns is already taking effect in the constituencies. During the just concluded Assembly elections, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) allied with the Congress party.

Sources close to the TDP party have disclosed that the party will not be fielding any candidates to contest in the Telangana Lok Sabha elections. The decision comes barely after several top leaders in the party defected to the rival Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) which is the ruling
party at the moment. The other remaining leaders have not expressed any desire to take part in the Telangana elections. It is expected that TDP might support the Congress candidates in the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies based on their previous political union in Assembly elections.

The Electoral body in India set 25th March 2019 as the last day the candidates would be required to have finalized the filing of nominations for the elections scheduled for next month. The 11th April General Election is much awaited by citizens who are willing to exercise their democratic right by electing their representatives in the parliament. The highly contested election has attracted three parties which are battling to outdoor each other during campaigns as the election date approaches.
